Megatour
TBS (consolidator and distribution product) and AIDA (the inventory and stock management solution) form the technological platform of Megatour travel agency in France, which permits partners and resellers to connect and buy their services directly from their inventory or from external wholesalers inventory.
Megatour is an important player into French market, especially due to their abilities in controlling their accommodation stock and prices and to offer best service quality to their demanding clients.
Activating into the huge French market, Megatour are focused on selling Paris destination to local clientele as well as foreigners, especially from oriental markets (Turkey). Being such a notorious destination, Paris drives enough business for the company to focus on service quality for hotels and other attractions in Paris and connected services (transfers, Disney tickets, tours, etc).
Challenge
Megatour target quality of service and therefore they needed a faster and precise way to control the prices and inventory. In Paris, especially in high peak seasons, the request is so high that for some areas it is a real problem to find availability. The hotels have developed special ways in working with the travel agents to distribute the availability together with the prices. Therefore, a travel agency which exceeds the stock by as much as one room and has overbooking, might lose the entire revenue on the package sale due to the overprice paid for the extra room.
Being a local travel agency, their contacts with hotels are very strong and they have access to the right people at the right moment. Therefore Megatour needed the final ingredient, a feasible inventory / stock management solution that could precisely keep track of the exact number of rooms and availability in real time for each accommodation service managed internally, as well as a distribution platform to sell the services from the local inventory and from 3rd party providers/wholesalers, remotely, online towards their clients.
Implementation
Seeking to implement a solution, the managers of the company liked the platform from the first presentation. The implementation was imminent. The system was promising to bring the expected quality to the agency that could transform into service quality for their clients.
Opened for new business and opportunities, the implementation was very simple and straightforward with Megatour. They understood the power of the platform and the direction dcs plus team was taking it to, and Megatour were welcomed onboard.
Results and impact
After the piloting phase, TBS and AIDA were rapidly adopted by the operators and the bookers. Used initially for internal sales, the system grew little by little adding hotel by hotel and reseller by reseller. After almost 1 year since the official production launch, Megatour are selling hotels from their own inventory (direct contracts with local hotels) as well as from well known wholesalers through XML, via their own travel agents as well as through trusted resellers.
The new system has brought business increase and cost savings:
